great video. Does anyone know how I can fix my Iphone 3g? Its stuck on the boot logo for 5 minutes then the “download circle” shows up on the lower part of the apple symbol. Then the phone restarts its self and the process starts over again until the battery dies. My computer will not register the Iphone but it will register other Iphones. I do not get a option in my computer under the hardware>device manager section. Iphone will charge but no charge symbol shows up.

what version of itunes are u running? i’ve been using itunes10 and it stops installing the firmware right when it gets to the part when it contacts apple servers..

Seems, that the issue of preserving 3rd party applications plus data of these apps, not to forget notes/calendar/addressbook, are never really addressed. Though I appreciate your insight and videos, I do need to ask the questions, if – while enjoying the new iOS on both phones – I would have to re-install all apps of my JB+unlocked iPhone 3G + 3GS and especially how to make sure not to lose all of these apps (currently 124) during the upgrading process. MANY THANKS in advance!

emac2299, HELP PLEASE! I followed all the steps. At the end when it was verifying iphone restore with Apple, I got the error message: “The iPhone ‘iPhone’ could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194).”
Worst part is that my iphone is remained off right now, and I cannot turn it back on.
