Also, this seemed to work fine with the new 2.3.5 Gingerbread upgrade. The AT&T warning remains at the top of the tethering page, but it hooks up just fine. And – BONUS – it eliminates the force close issue after charging that came along with the upgrade.
For those who are concerned about AT&T catching you, do a search for “att-isnt-targeting-unauthorized-android-tethering-and-may-never”.
Bottom line seems to be that Androids are harder to catch than iPhones, are a fraction of the market and don’t represent the biggest offenders due to the legacy unlimited plans being mostly held by old iPhone users.
Ok…I am on the old unlimited plan. I simply need to know from the uploader if this is trackable by att? I am not looking for guarantees, I just need to know if the folks who wrote the comments down there are nutz. I don’t know how they would if we disable the software. Please answer…I think we are getting ripped just like all the INSANE bank charges so I am ok doing it. But I would like a little reassurance. Thanks so much for you efforts and either way we will donate.

They will change your account automatically! They will end you original “grandfathered” unlimited plan and put you on the $45 tethering plan.

But Guys …have AT&T found out that you HAVE been tethering without a tethering plan? Anybody? !?
I just went in and “force closed” the tethering manager and it’s doing the same thing as this. I did not root my phone or install anything else. It’s bone stock.
Thanks for the vid, it answered my question of why I don’t get billed for tethering while using the serendipity 7 rom.

Working Great Still On Samsung Captivate 2.3.3 Gingerbread Update!
Hay Josh, can you please respond? !!?!!? Did I do anything wrong…Well your techniques worked, but I went to update my extra iPhone and went on line to do online homework. Just last week my “phone carrier” sent me a letter and told me that they had seen that I had tethered my phone and want me to either not to do that or I or they, will have to change my unlimited plan. What should I do?

@gamedrs yea sorry i did have the cracked version, BUT i decided it was worth the money to invest in this peice of art so i bought the game on iTunes on sale with the Easter Mode! Good job gamedrs, really like the game
@tjello are you sure you have not a cracked version? If not let me know and I will take a look at it. Otherwise get ZS on the AppStore. Its on sale for a very short time. You have to delete your old savegame (remove) ZS from your iPhone before syncing the AppStore version.
